Get Close, From Afar

Human beings need connection like Brits need tea–especially in a time of a crisis. Now, as we all adjust to this temporary “norm”, we want to highlight the importance of staying connected with others and bringing each other moments of joy. Though we have to be separated right now, we are all experiencing similar emotions and asking the same questions. We can use this solidarity to feel close to one another even when we’re physically apart.

With social distancing, it can feel like we’re missing out on...a lot. But those special little moments are still possible. With this film, we want to show that there’s still something to look forward to during all this. New relationships can still begin – and grow. Flirting can be just as exciting over the phone, and dates from a distance can still give you butterflies. You can build a sense of closeness even when you’re apart.

You don’t have to go through this alone. We all still need each other. Remember to keep each other close and be open to getting to know new people, even if it’s from afar.

How was the film made?

We worked with four couples who are filmmakers, and asked them to capture how relationships can still develop during this time, both using footage filmed before social distancing and new footage filmed at home. By asking them to film themselves — being sure to follow all government guidelines — we got a more candid, intimate view of their most meaningful moments.

We hope this film inspires you to look for the silver lining. We will get through this together.
